Teachers
Corinne Doret is the founder of Hills Yoga and the principal teacher at the studio. She has a background in Clinical Hypnosis and Counselling and has worked in this field offering Hypno-Cognitive & Behaviour Therapy as well as Childbirth Management. She retired from her private practice in 2001 to focus on yoga program development for childbirth, children, and for people with disabilities.
A yoga practitioner since 1993 she has trained in Hatha, Iyengar & Ashtanga yoga methods, Vipassana & Zen and other types of meditation with master teachers from Australia and overseas. She has also been instructed and trained in the art of Thai Massage at Wat Po Thai Medical & Massage School in Bangkok, and other bodywork techniques. Corinne has been teaching full time since 1999 at her studio, Westmead Private Hospital and other venues by invitation.
She has developed and taught her PowerBirth program since 1999 and has provided presentations to midwives & childbirth educators in the private sector. From 1996 to 2004 Corinne was involved with people with disabilities, providing weekly individual massage & relaxation sessions to clients at Warrah Post School Option and weekly yoga classes at her own studio to Warrah's and Hadpac's clients.
Corinne brings to her teaching 25 years of practical experience and knowledge she has acquired through the studies and involvement with macrobiotics, humanistic astrology, eastern philosophies, meditation, aromatherapy, psychotherapy and psychology. Her approach to teaching is based on her own experience and self-exploration and reflects the inspiration of her studies and influence from the teachings of Sri BKS Iyengar and Sri Pattabhi Jois.
Kirsten Schuman completed her yoga Teacher Training in 2004 with Mark O'Brien at Qi Yoga in Manly. Over the years Kirsten has taught in various venues and has been a regular teacher at Hills Yoga for the past 3 years teaching Level 1, Gentle, Postnatal and Prenatal classes.
Kirsten teaches to inspire, encourage and support students looking to develop greater vitality and awareness of the body, the breath and the mind. Her focus is to guide students in strengthening the body, increasing awareness and self understanding. Her passion is to promote a healing space for the student to work with the principles of yoga towards creating a healthy balanced lifestyle.
Catherine Parsons is a dedicated teacher who has chosen to specialise in the Iyengar method. She has been practicing under the guidance of Margaret Ceresoli consistently for the past 4 years.
Catherine completed her level 1 Teacher Training with senior Iyengar teacher Glenn Ceresoli and she is currently undergoing her level 2 with him.
Catherine views yoga as a pathway to sustained change. She teaches according to the Iyengar principles of alignment, stability and integrated awareness.
Her class is on Saturdays at 2.00pm.
Nasrin Baniasad discovered yoga through her natural seeking to deepen the connection with her true self. She has been a dedicated student of yoga since 2004, practicing many different approaches to discover a style that is complete in all limbs of yoga, not only bringing strength and flexibility in the body but also creating peace of mind.
Nasrin qualified as a Hatha Yoga teacher in 2009 with Yoga Alliance International and furthered her studies by completing level 1 Teacher Training at Rose Bay Yoga Room in 2010.
Nasrin brings into her practice and teaching, the connection of mind, body and breath to uplift the spirit and to integrate the wonderful gift of yoga into our daily life.
She teaches our Level l, Postnatal II, Mum & Toddler and Kids yoga classes.
Heena Raikar was born in India and was introduced to yoga at the age of 17. In India she trained at the Yoga Institute, Mumbai and at the Kaivalyadham Institute, Pune. She also completed a Bachelor Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics as well as a Masters in Social Work. In 2008 Heena completed her yoga Teacher Training at Nature Care College in Sydney and continued her studies under the guidance of Michael de Manincor.
Heena aspires to teach yoga for a therapeutic purpose to benefit people coping with chronic health conditions such as cardiac conditions, depression, anxiety and are struggling to manage their health.
Heena has been with Hills Yoga for the last 2 years and runs Yoga Therapy classes on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The approach is hands-on, tailored program for individual needs which has a home practice component along with cleansing practices (Kriyas) and diet changes when appropriate.
