Hills Yoga

Corinne Doret is the founder of Hills Yoga and the principal teacher. She has been teaching full time since its inception in 1999. Corinne has a background in Clinical Hypnosis & Counselling, Hypno-Cognitive & Behaviour Therapy and Childbirth Management. She retired from her private practice in 2001 to focus on yoga program development for childbirth, children, and for people with disabilities.

A yoga practitioner since 1993 she has trained with master teachers from Australia and overseas in Hatha, Iyengar, Ashtanga & Kriya yoga, Vipassana, Zen and other forms of meditation, Thai Massage and Stretch Therapy. Her last 15 years has been devoted to the Iyengar method attending regular classes, workshops, intensives and retreats with Geeta and Abhijata Iyengar, Pixie Lillas, Lois Steinberg, Stephanie Quirk, Mira Mehta, Gulnaaz Dashti. Corinne continues to study with Iyengar teachers Pixie Lillas and Stephanie Quirk.

She created PowerBirth® in 1999 and provides presentations to midwives & childbirth educators in the private and public sector. In 2000 Corinne developed a program for people with disabilities and taught weekly yoga classes to Warrah Post School Option and Hadpac's clients for 4 years at her Studio. 

Corinne brings to her teaching 30 years of practical experience and knowledge she has acquired through the studies of macrobiotics, humanistic astrology, eastern philosophies, meditation, aromatherapy, and psychology. Her approach to teaching is based on her own experience and self-exploration and reflects the inspiration and influence from her teachers.

A down to earth, supportive, intuitive and inspiring teacher, Corinne brings to her class humour, discipline, challenge, fun and compassion, motivating her students to explore deeper into their minds and bodies. Her teaching is hands on, adaptive, alignment focused and interactive with a strong empahsis on mind/body connection.

 

Corinne runs regular workshops, retreats and a mentoring program for  new teachers.

Denise started her journey in 2002 when she came back from her first yoga retreat after the home birth of her 5th child. In 2011 following years of personal practice Denise completed her  teacher training in Hatha yoga with Nature Care College. Over the years Denise has done intensives with senior teachers Donna Farhi, Judith Lasater and Pixie Lillas and is now undergoing a teacher training in Iyengar yoga with Pixie Lillas.


A compassionate, caring and committed teacher, Denise's classes are innovative, approachable, non-judgemental, light-hearted and have the right balance between strength and flexibility. Denise guides her students through a well rounded practice that leaves her class feeling invigorated and grounded.

Denise has been with Hills Yoga as a student and teacher since 2012.

Kim joined our Studio in 2009, attended PowerBirth during her pregnancy and completed a two year mentoring program with Corinne. Prior to joining Hills Yoga Kim trained in the Iyengar method with senior teachers, Carole Baillargeon her first teacher in Darwin, then spent many years at The Yoga Centre with Caroline Coggins and Suzi Chin Slicz (Sydney).

Kim is currently taking a 2 year teachers training with Iyengar teacher and past president of the Iyengar Association in Sydney Bertha Shakinovsky.

With a strong background in Iyengar and many years of dedicated practice, Kim's classes are alignment focused, firm and encouraging.

Samantha joined our Studio in 2012, and has been a regular student since. She is continuing a mentoring program with Corinne, developing her yoga practice and teaching skills. Sam is currently completing a 1 year teacher training with IYTA.

Samantha is a qualified personal trainer and group fitness instructor and holds a Children Training Certificate. Her studies have covered many aspects of the needs of children’s health and development including teaching & motivational techniques. 

 

With an extensive background in working with children, being a passionate advocate for a holistic approach to health and being a mother herself, Samantha’s kind and empathetic but firm guidance makes the children’s classes engaging, encouraging, fun and nourishing. 

 

Many artistic talents and skills, Samantha is also a professional photographer, a model and actress.

Rosie discovered Yoga 12 years ago and found that the healing and grounding benefits she received from yoga, were so profound that she decided to change the course of her life's work, walked away from a successful business and turned her focus to health and wellbeing.

 

In 2015-16 Rosie trained with Duncan Peak of Power Living Yoga, Sarah Powers of Insight Yoga, Mark Breadner of Yoga Coach and Janet Stone (USA). She also completed an Advanced Diploma of Nutritional Medicine.

 

Rosie loves the fun and challenging sequences that Vinyasa Yoga has to offer and how Yin Yoga helps one to adapt to the ups and downs of life and to manage change with grace.  She encourages her students to remain curious and to follow the path of self-enquiry. She empowers her students to challenge their limitations and to use the practice as a tool to discover innate joy and possibilities. Combining traditional practices with anatomical insight, she makes her classes invigorating and intuitive.

Fiona is a practitioner and certified teacher of Iyengar yoga. Yoga has been part of her life for almost 30 years and she continues to learn and develop in her own practice and teaching, studying with local and international Senior Iyengar Yoga teachers. She has travelled to Pune, India to attend classes with Geeta Iyengar and has also been taught by Abhijata Iyengar.

 

Fiona enjoys the grace and precision of Iyengar yoga and the way its practice creates a sense of lightness and harmony throughout the body and mind.She loves that yoga is for every body and enjoys teaching all ages from kids to seniors with warmth and compassion. She cannot imagine life without yoga and loves life with it.
